The Problem
Many children struggle with reading outside the classroom, slowing their literacy growth. Without engaging experiences, structured routines, or encouragement, reading can feel like a chore. Competing distractions like screens often take priority. By making reading enjoyable, interactive, and a daily habit, we can foster a love for books and boost literacy skills.
Design
To build consistency and measure progress, parents and teachers will record and track children’s daily reading using journals, digital logs, or a dedicated reading tracker. Parents and teachers will use reading trackers to ensure regular engagement and provide insights into reading patterns. Utilizing a reading tracker allows for easy monitoring of reading habits and helps children visualize their progress over time. Encouraging children to listen to their own recordings fosters self-reflection and boosts confidence in their reading abilities.
Testing
We’ve created a website that will record and monitor your child’s reading growth. By using this platform, parents and teachers can track progress, identify patterns, and ensure consistent engagement. This tool provides valuable insights into reading habits, helping to support children in their literacy development journey.
Evaluating
Parents and teachers will reflect on feedback from recorded readings and tracking data. By reviewing strengths and areas for improvement, they can tailor support to help children develop stronger reading skills and confidence. Additionally, feedback from parents and teachers will be used to further refine and customize the website, ensuring it better meets the needs of all users and enhances the reading experience.
Expansion
As we continue to develop the website, we aim to introduce exciting new features to enhance engagement and motivation. Future updates will include the ability for students to earn XP points, create reading streaks with peers, and design custom avatars. Additionally, we plan to personalize teacher, student, and parent dashboards to offer a more tailored experience, and a digital library. These enhancements will help create an interactive and rewarding reading environment, encouraging consistent participation and fostering a love for literacy.
